I bought one of these and it is OK but not great. I would never carry it scales down on my pack as it would likely fall out while hiking (my ideal carry for this knife). By tightening the leather strap tension bolts I can get it to hold the knife OK. I understand a bit of heat may help so may try that. Mine does not rattle in the sheath but the retention is the concern. Took it for a 4 day backpacking trip in rough country with scales-up/tip down carry on my pack with no issues. Great sheath if you don't mind tweaking it to fit.
