This is a compact though study flipper axis lock knife, which to me is quite uncommon. There is a bit of a spring-loaded assist when flipping, and the closing requires a bit of a thumb assist, similar to Kershaw assisted opening knives. The axis lock slides vertically, as opposed to most horizontal implementations of the axis lock (such as in Benchmade knives). Once you get use to the vertical movement of the lock upward to close the knife, flipping open and closing works well.
